Leader of a drug ring that possessed 200 pounds of psychedelic drugs pleads guilty

Four years ago, a man under investigation for drug and gun trafficking led police on a chase from Lower Price Hill to Newport, where he crashed into a restaurant patio, killing a married couple.

During the investigation into the accident, large quantities of illegal drugs were seized and 16 people were charged, including a man who prosecutors say was the leader of the drug trafficking organization at issue in the case.

The man, 36-year-old Ryan Haskamp, pleaded guilty Tuesday in federal court in Cincinnati to conspiracy to possess drugs and weapons, the U.S. Attorney's Office said. Haskamp is the last of the 16 defendants to plead guilty, officials said.
