Denton church youth leader arrested for child sexual abuse

According to a press release from Denton police, a youth leader at a Denton church was arrested Tuesday on child sexual abuse charges.

Craig Stone, 63, is youth director at Willowwood Church of the Nazarene, 1523 Willowwood Street.

According to the press release, a parent and child reported to Denton police on August 28 that Stone was behaving inappropriately toward teenagers.

According to the press release, other teenagers told investigators during interviews in September about possible sexual images of children on Stone's computer.

The press release states that Stone has agreed to speak with investigators and admitted to touching the teenager and possessing nude photos of a second teenager.

Investigators obtained arrest warrants for possession of images of child sexual abuse and indecent treatment of children.

Stone was arrested Tuesday evening and booked into the city jail. His bail is set at $20,000.

A call to the church on Wednesday went unanswered and the voicemail box was full. The church did not immediately respond to an email request for comment from the Denton Record-Chronicle.

Denton Police are asking anyone with information about Stone, including any unreported incidents, to call Detective Marqui Curtis at 940-349-7727.
