Man United 1-1 FC Twente (25 September 2024) Match Analysis

Manchester United started their Europa League campaign with a 1-1 draw after failing to score against FC Twente at a rainy Old Trafford on Wednesday, with a Christian Eriksen goal cancelled out by Dutch striker Sam Lammers.

The first half was a lively affair, with Twente's Lammers having an early effort that went wide of the post.

Ten minutes before half-time, Eriksen gave United the lead with a powerful shot from the penalty area into the top corner.

Twente equalised in the 68th minute when Lammers beat United goalkeeper Andre Onana with a powerful shot at the near post.

A few minutes later, Joshua Zirkzee tried to put United back in the lead with a shot from a tight angle, but Twente keeper Lars Unnerstall saved.

Bruno Fernandes almost scored for United in the closing minutes with a curling shot into the top corner, but the hosts struggled to break through a deep Twente defence who seemed content with the away draw.
