Suspect arrested in connection with threats against school district

BROOKLAND, Arkansas (KAIT) – Police said a suspect was arrested for making threats against the Brookland School District.

Detective Dustin Norwood of the Brookland Police said officers were notified of a threat complaint at Brookland High School around 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 25.

“During the response, the Brookland School District was placed on precautionary lockdown due to the threats,” he said in a press release.

When officers determined that the suspect was not in or near the school, the lockdown was lifted.

Norwood said an adult suspect was arrested in another county for making the threats. His identity will be released later as the investigation is ongoing.

Norwood added that there is no known threat to students, teachers or staff of the Brookland School District.
