LA 'serial rapist': Prosecutor announces 26-count indictment against man accused of raping and stalking women he met online

An alleged serial rapist has been indicted by a grand jury on 26 counts involving nearly a dozen victims – possibly more – across Los Angeles County.

According to a statement from Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón, 41-year-old Terrance Hawkins is accused of, among other things, violent intimate partner violence and stalking of at least 11 victims – all over a period of nearly a decade.

“This is a truly outrageous case,” Gascón said in a Sept. 25 press release. “I want to recognize and commend the courage of the women who have come forward to share their painful experiences. It takes incredible courage to speak out, especially when you are faced with such trauma.”

The indictment, unsealed this week, details allegations against Hawkins, including 10 counts of rape, one count of sexual assault and one count of rape of an unconscious person. Other charges include multiple counts of assault on a domestic partner, stalking, animal cruelty and illegal possession of a firearm, according to Los Angeles District Attorney Gascón's office.

In previous reports over the summer, the Los Angeles Police Department warned the public that Hawkins had a history of “briefly dating women, abusing them, and filming them having sexual intercourse.” The LAPD also said earlier this year that Hawkins met the victims “on various social media platforms.”

The alleged crimes occurred between 2014 and 2023. Hawkins was accused of physically and sexually abusing women he dated during that time, Gascón said in a press release. Both the LAPD and Gascón warned that Hawkins may have targeted more than 11 victims.

Hawkins remains in custody without bail and faces life in prison if convicted.

Anyone with information about Hawkins or who may have been a victim is asked to call 213-709-9017 or 800-222-TIPS.
