Springfield man pleads not guilty, accused of pointing gun at Haitians, children

According to court documents, the victims, who are Haitian immigrants, did not want Blaney to be charged “for fear of retaliation in the future.” They told police that the children were not allowed to play outside, but in the garage or house, “for fear that someone might hurt them.”

Blaney is accused of three counts of aggravated burglary. On Monday, he pleaded not guilty to all three charges in district court.

According to court documents, Blaney denied entering his neighbor's garage. His wife said she was home and did not see her husband leave the house. Officers noted in their report that they smelled alcohol on Blaney and his wife and that they did not find a gun on the man, but he had a permit to carry a concealed weapon.

The Clark County District Attorney's Office said Wednesday it does not comment on cases pending investigation or indictment when asked whether the victims' nationality played a role in the alleged crime.
