HUNTINGTON, Indiana — A former athletics coach accused of sexual abuse is currently on trial in northern Indiana.

Nicholas Johnson was formerly head coach of track and field at Huntington University. He is accused of sexual assault. A female athlete came forward with the allegation that he attacked her in July 2020.

The woman testified that she and Johnson had a consensual relationship, but that he once went too far after giving her a massage

He was also involved in a federal case in which other athletes accused him of assault, but the case was dismissed. Johnson is also alleged to have run a doping program for female runners at Huntington.

This case could still be pursued at the state level.
