Driver flown out of Fond du Lac County accident scene with serious injuries

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office is investigating a single-vehicle rollover accident that occurred overnight on Thursday, September 26, 2024.

Just after 1 a.m., the communications center received a call that there had been an accident on County I near Marsh Road in the town of Eldorado. Upon arrival, officers found a single-vehicle accident with the car engulfed in flames in a cornfield. A quick search of the area surrounding the vehicle found an unconscious person. The Eldorado Fire Department, North Fond du Lac Ambulance and State Police were called to the scene.

Due to the severity of the injuries, the person was flown by ThedaStar rescue helicopter to ThedaCare Medical Complex in Neenah.

The investigation into the crash revealed that the 35-year-old Oakfield man was traveling north on I when he lost control and left the road, striking a utility pole and overturning the vehicle in the cornfield.
The causes of the accident are believed to be speed and driving under the influence of alcohol. The Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office is continuing its investigation.
