Suspect arrested in Williamsport car theft incident

Police said a car theft suspect was arrested in Williamsport.

Tiler Wood, 27, was arrested in connection with a reported car theft on Sunday.

Wood allegedly approached a victim who was sitting in a Toyota Camry in the 200 block of West 4th Street, opened the vehicle door, hid what was believed to be a handgun in his shirt and ordered the victim to get out of the car. Wood then took the vehicle and fled the scene, police said.

The car was found in the 300 block of St. Davids Road in Loyalsock Township.

Surveillance video from several businesses in the area helped officers identify the suspect as Wood. Police said they then learned he was charged by Pennsylvania State Police with another car theft in another county and was being held in the Carbon County Jail.

Wood is currently in custody in Carbon County on the charges. He remains incarcerated on $150,000 bail.
