Police arrest man accused of throwing Molotov cocktails at Hollywood Beach store

HOLLYWOOD, Florida. – Police have arrested a suspect in connection with several attempted arson incidents at a Hollywood Beach business, authorities confirmed Thursday.

According to investigators, 58-year-old Chiu Lee Moy was taken into custody on Wednesday. He is accused of two counts of arson and two counts of possession and discharge of an explosive device.

Detectives initially responded to the Broadwalk Restaurant & Grill at 1400 N. Surf Road when a bottle was lit and thrown at the business at around 4:45 a.m. on June 24.

The incident was captured on surveillance camera video, but police said the Molotov cocktail landed near the store's back door and caused no damage to the building.

On August 13, officers returned to the same store for another incident involving a Molotov cocktail at around 4:55 a.m., which they said also did not cause any property damage.

Hollywood police confirmed that Moy was arrested at his Johnson Street home and his vehicle was impounded pending the production of a search warrant.

Jail records show he is being held without bail at Broward Main Jail.

The motive for both incidents remains unclear.
