Sheriff: Five arrested in drug raid in Chester County

The arrests stem from a search warrant that officers executed for a home near Great Falls Highway.

CHESTER, SC — Five people were arrested at a South Carolina home during the execution of a search warrant by the Chester County Sheriff's Office, a spokesman said.

On Wednesday, officers went to a home near the intersection of Great Falls Highway and Aiken Creek Road and arrested five people living there.

This is part of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking, the spokesman said.

Carl Hampton Loving was arrested and charged with possession of fentanyl.

Christopher Emile Gregory Maxon was charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to resell. This was Maxon's third offense, according to the sheriff's office.

Nancy Hines Mullinax was wanted by the York County Sheriff's Office for failure to appear for a previous drug possession charge. Mullinax and Jessica Leigh Yarborough were also charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to resell.

Jacob Shackelford was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Lancaster County.

Officers later arrested Dennis William Keen Jr., whom they identified as a co-conspirator in the case. They said they found him in possession of a “large quantity of what is believed to be fentanyl.”

According to documents obtained by WCNC Charlotte, all those arrested in this case are U.S. citizens and live in South Carolina.

Sheriff Max Dorsey released a statement expressing his frustration with the “flow” of drugs from other countries.

“It is inexcusable that dangerous drugs like fentanyl and methamphetamine are so easily smuggled across our nation's borders. The men and women of the Chester Sheriff's Office regularly put drug traffickers and dealers in jail, but this war must be fought more aggressively at the border,” Dorsey said.
