Two Williamsport men face drug charges in separate cases | News, Sports, Jobs

Thomas Gonzalez Jr., 58, of 1768 Memorial Ave., was charged by the county's drug unit with delivery of a controlled substance and illegal use of a cell phone for allegedly arranging the sale of 3.5 grams of methamphetamine to an informant at the corner of Berger Street and Sutton Avenue in the city on July 26, court documents said. Detectives intercepted Gonzalez before the sale was completed, and the methamphetamine he was planning to sell was seized, investigators said. Gonzalez was arraigned last week before District Judge Gary Whiteman and remains in custody pending $10,000 bail.

In another case, Jeffrey Kaelin, 35, of 658 Krouse Ave., was charged by city police with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with evidence after he was found slumped over a laundry table at 1200 Vine Ave. on April 23, according to an affidavit. He had a plastic bag in his hand, which he immediately put in his mouth and swallowed when an officer asked him what it was. He was taken to UPMC Williamsport, and during the ride “became more and more lethargic and began to fall asleep,” the statement in the court document. He had a bag of marijuana in his pocket, police said. After his release, he was automatically booked into the Lycoming County Jail after it was learned there was a warrant for his arrest. Kaelin was recently arraigned before District Judge Christian Frey and remains in custody despite missing a $5,000 bail bond. He has since waived a preliminary hearing.
