Four people hospitalized after aborted chase in Charleston County – ends in accident in Berkeley County

LADSON, SC (WCSC) – The Charleston County Sheriff's Office said an aborted chase ended in a three-car crash that left four people hospitalized.

Officers reportedly saw a car driving “erratically” westbound on I-26 near Ashley Phosphate on Thursday morning. Upon checking the license plates, officers found that they did not match the car they were on, but were registered to another vehicle.

The officers therefore initiated a chase, but aborted it within a few minutes due to the high speed.

Shortly thereafter, a three-vehicle accident occurred on College Park Road, just off I-26.

The driver and passenger of the vehicle police say was involved in the chase, as well as the drivers of all other vehicles involved in the crash, were taken to Trident Medical Center for treatment.

There is no information yet as to whether charges will be filed in connection with this accident.
