Allen Robinson moves from the practice squad to the Detroit Lions' 53-man roster

The Detroit Lions started the season with four wide receivers on their 53-man roster, now there are six.

The Lions signed veteran receiver Allen Robinson from the practice squad to their 53-man roster on Thursday, filling the spot left vacant after placing Marcus Davenport and Derrick Barnes on the injured list on Tuesday.

The Lions had previously signed experienced receiver Tim Patrick from the practice squad to fill a vacancy.

Both Patrick and Robinson signed with the Lions following roster cuts in August to compete for the fourth receiver spot. The Lions retained only four receivers from their original 53-man roster: Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, Kalif Raymond and Isaiah Williams.

Isaiah Williams has missed two games with an abdominal injury, and both Patrick and Robinson played as practice squad substitutes last week against the Arizona Cardinals.

Patrick, who also played in the Lions' Week 2 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, played 34 snaps and caught the only pass thrown to him against the Cardinals, for 8 yards. Robinson played one snap and did not have a single catch.
