Oakland County woman sentenced after drunk driving accident that killed motorcyclist

PONTIAC, Mich. – A 31-year-old Waterford woman will spend several years behind bars in 2023 for killing a motorcyclist.

Jessica Lenore Kellar was charged in September 2023 with driving under the influence of alcohol causing vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence of alcohol with a passenger under the age of 16.

The charges stem from an accident on September 15, 2024, in Pontiac, near the intersection of East Huron Street and Woodward Avenue. Officials said Kellar drove a pickup truck alongside the motorcycle before turning into it.

Kirt Keenan Stalker, a White Lake resident, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said he was wearing a helmet.

Kellar and her 15-year-old passenger were not injured.

According to police, Kellar's blood alcohol level at the time of the accident was 0.10%. Under Michigan law, a driver is considered drunk at 0.08%.

Kellar pleaded guilty on August 6, 2024.

Judge Mary Ellen Brennan sentenced Kellar to 2.5 to 15 years in prison on Wednesday, September 26.
