How hot sauce led to a murder in Colorado

Denver is known to have one of the highest murder rates in the country and unfortunately, another murder has occurred in the Mile High City.

The incident occurred near Mile High Stadium at a home on Federal Boulevard and West 23rd Avenue over a bottle of hot sauce.

19-year-old man arrested in Denver

George Vigil, a 19-year-old Denver resident, was arrested for murder. According to 9News, Vigil and the victim got into an argument because the victim came into the apartment to make a sandwich and asked where the bottle of hot sauce was.

An argument ensued and the murder victim challenged Vigil to a fight. The victim did not expect Vigil to have a knife. Vigil stabbed the victim and they died at Denver Health, which is less than 10 minutes from the scene of the incident.

KDVR reports that Vigil usually carried a switchblade knife with him at all times and used it to stab the victim. Law & Crime noted that the victim was stabbed in the ribs and that three men and a woman were in the Denver home at the time of the crime.

George Vigil's status in Colorado

According to Denver Police, George Vigil was arrested on September 23 for the murder that occurred the previous day. Vigil is being investigated for first-degree murder. Because the investigation is ongoing, Denver Police have not yet released the name of the murdered victim.

Vigil appeared in court on September 23 and is being held on $200,000 bail.
