Trial underway for Albany man charged with murder of ex-wife | News

ALBANY, Ore. – A trial is currently underway in Linn County for an Albany man accused of murdering his estranged ex-wife, in a case that drew national attention.

Craig Lazon was arrested in 2020 for the alleged murder of Tiffany Marie Lazon. Her body was never found. However, her DNA was found on a battery-operated circular saw that Craig had borrowed from a friend and returned without the blade a few days after Tiffany's disappearance. The trial began on September 18th and is expected to last until at least October 4th.

Before Tiffany's disappearance, Craig Lazon had been arrested in Springfield in 215 after Tiffany made allegations that he had beaten, strangled and raped her. Lazon was charged with a dozen crimes in the case, including attempted murder. However, Tiffany, a military veteran, later retracted her statements, saying she had post-traumatic stress disorder and missed Craig. He was sentenced to three years in prison in that case for tampering with a witness after allegedly trying to convince Tiffany Lazon not to appear in court.
