Topeka man arrested after alleged road rage incident

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – A 30-year-old Topeka man was arrested and booked into the Shawnee Co. Correctional Facility following a violent incident on Monday, Sept. 23, authorities said.

Topeka police responded to the incident near SE 37th and Adams just before 2 p.m. When officers arrived, they were unable to locate the people involved in the suspected traffic accident.

A driver of a vehicle who claimed to be a victim reported that the suspect driver intentionally hit him with his vehicle several times on I-70 on Monday.

At approximately 2:00 p.m., TPD officers responded to an accident in which the suspect vehicle was not injured. The non-injury accident occurred near SW 29th and Burlingame.

The driver of the suspected suspect vehicle was identified as Jacob E. Pitney, 30, of Topeka. As a result, Pitney was arrested and charged with:

  • Aggravated assault; Use of a deadly weapon
  • damage to property; Without consent, the value is $1,000 to $25,000
  • Worsened battery; Deliberately using physical contact in an angry/rude manner with a weapon
