Couple's fight over Xanax pills leads to man's death

SAN ANTONIO – According to Universal City police, a fight over prescription pills led to a woman killing her husband.

Universal City Police Chief Johnny Siemens said investigators spent about four hours Wednesday interviewing 61-year-old Constance Seinwill. She admitted to killing her husband in a fit of rage, Siemens said.

“He had hidden her Xanax from her,” Siemens said. “She was already in an inebriated state at this point.”

Police found Seinwill's husband dead on the living room floor of their home in the 100 block of Rising Star.

Siemens said neighbors called 911 after Seinwill knocked on their door and told them she had killed her husband.

The police chief said it appeared the victim was struck repeatedly in the head with an object. Investigators later recovered several items from the house, Siemens said, which could be the murder weapon.

As police streamed into the normally quiet neighborhood near Toepperwein and Kitty Hawk streets Wednesday morning, other neighbors watched and wondered what was going on.

“It was something really bad because they were going in and out, in and out. The police officers. The coroner,” said a woman who wished to remain anonymous.

According to another anonymous neighbor, there was no hiding the fact that there was trouble in the couple's home.

“They fought the whole time, including (outside),” the neighbor said. “You could hear them getting out of the vehicles.”

Siemens said he didn't recall ever calling officers to the couple's home. Although, according to Siemens, that's just what others should do.

“If you know someone who is in an unsafe relationship, please contact local law enforcement and counseling wherever you can to try to get these people help,” Siemens said.

A neighbor said afterward that she wished someone, especially her loved ones, had intervened on behalf of this special couple.

“You must have known what was going on between these two,” the neighbor said. “I just wish they had taken her to some sort of counseling.”
