  • Chainsaw killer Alex Ray Scott sentenced to 22 years to life in prison for 2020 Upper East Side murder

MANHATTAN, NY – Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, Jr. today announced the sentencing of 28-year-old Alex Ray Scott to 22 years to life in state prison for the brutal 2020 murder of Kenneth Savinski. Scott, who fatally stabbed Savinski, 64, in his Upper East Side apartment, pleaded guilty earlier this month to second-degree murder and two counts of criminal possession of stolen property.

District Attorney Bragg emphasized the profound impact of Savinski's death and described him as a beloved and respected figure in his community. The January 27, 2020 incident occurred after Scott and Savinski spent an evening together and returned to Savinski's apartment near East 83rd Street. Inside, Scott stabbed Savinski multiple times, inflicting fatal wounds to his head and neck.

Scott was later found wearing Savinski's clothing and in possession of his stolen credit cards. After a two-day manhunt, she turned herself in to the Midtown North Precinct. The conviction closes the case and provides some justice to Mr. Savinski's friends and family.
