After his wife's death, investigators began searching for Daniels for questioning and alerted authorities in Mingo County and Pike County, Kentucky, to help since he was a frequent resident of both areas.

Daniels was arrested Wednesday in Mingo County on unrelated charges, including threatening to commit a terrorist act and retaliating against a public servant.
