Man charged with hit-and-run in Harrison


JERSEY CITY, NJ – Authorities have charged a 52-year-old man in connection with a hit-and-run that seriously injured a pedestrian in Harrison. The incident on May 17 resulted in a collision that sent a 66-year-old woman to hospital with serious injuries.

Robert Marmora, a Kearny resident, faces charges of knowingly leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in serious bodily injury and endangering an injured victim. He was arrested by the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office in Secaucus on Wednesday, September 25, and released pending his initial court appearance scheduled for October 17.

The hit-and-run occurred just after 2 a.m. May 17 when Harrison police were alerted to a pedestrian struck near Harrison Avenue and South 5th Street. Officers found the injured woman, who was taken to University Hospital in Newark for treatment of serious lower and middle body injuries. The vehicle involved did not remain at the scene, but authorities later identified Marmora's Ford EcoSport as the suspect vehicle.

  • Police arrest two men for vehicle burglary in Secaucus

    Secaucus, NJ – On Wednesday, at 3:58 p.m., Secaucus Police responded to a report of vehicle break-ins in the parking lot of the Restaurant Depot at 777 Secaucus Road

    Witnesses reported that two men used a tool believed to be a screwdriver to break into a Dodge Ram pickup truck. Cash and other personal items were stolen from the vehicle.

    Upon arrival, Officer Jaden Gonzalez observed two individuals, Travis Murphy and Jed McDougal, both of Brooklyn, New York, who matched the suspect descriptions. During a stop and search of her vehicle, a screwdriver and stolen items were recovered. Murphy presented false identification when arrested.

    Chief Dennis Miller stated, “The Patrol Division is the backbone of every police department. These arrests are another example of the Secaucus Police Department responding promptly to reports of criminal activity and apprehending criminals who enter Secaucus and prey on our residents and visitors."     Travis Murphy, 35, and Jed McDougal, 46, were each charged with burglary and theft.

  • NYPD asks public for help identifying suspects molesting children

    NEW YORK - The New York Police Department is asking for the public's help in identifying a man wanted for accosting a young girl on a New York City subway.

    The NYPD reported that at approximately 7:10 a.m. on Monday, September 23, a 14-year-old female victim was aboard the southbound 6 train approaching the 77th Street and Lexington Avenue station as an unknown person pressed his groin onto the victim's buttocks without consent.

    “The unknown person also grabbed the victim by the buttocks. The subject then fled on foot to unknown areas. No injuries were reported in this incident,” the NYPD said.
