First alarm weather

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – Good morning. Heavy rain overnight has caused flooding in areas this morning. We have also received reports of fallen trees. Allow extra time when you go to work or school. We will see lighter showers and fog for the rest of the day. Meanwhile, we are tracking Hurricane Helene, which is expected to make landfall along Florida's Great Curve this evening. Rain and gusty winds from Helene will cover our region all day on Friday, with persistent showers over the weekend. 2″-4″ of rain is possible. Some further flooding will be a concern.
