Greg Joseph will continue as the New York Giants' placekicker against the Dallas Cowboys

The New York Giants will not make a change at placekicker this week after new kicker Greg Joseph badly missed a 48-yard field goal attempt that would have given the Giants a nine-point lead over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.

Joseph, a seven-year NFL veteran, was released from the Detroit Lions' practice squad last week to replace Graham Gano, who was placed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury.

“It will be Greg,” head coach Brian Daboll said Tuesday, a day after being noncommittal about his kicker for Thursday.

Last week, the Giants identified four placekickers. They signed none of these and instead decided to bring in Joseph.

The 30-year-old Joseph played for the Cleveland Browns, Tennessee Titans and Minnesota Vikings. He spent the last three seasons with Minnesota.

Joseph has made 62 of 63 field goal attempts (96.9%) inside 40 yards in his career. However, he only managed 22 of 31 (70.9%) from 40 to 49 yards and 16 of 28 (57.1%) from 50 yards or more.

Joseph converted all three of his extra point attempts against the Browns.

The Giants will have to pay Joseph for at least two more games since they released him from Detroit's practice squad.
