Motorcyclist critically injured in accident on Lake Avenue

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A motorcyclist was critically injured after a collision with an SUC at Lake Avenue and Maplewood Park Thursday evening, Rochester police said.

The accident occurred around 5:45 p.m. Police said the motorcycle was traveling north on Lake Avenue at a high rate of speed and was too fast to stop when the SUV, traveling south on Lake, made a left turn into Maplewood Park. The motorcycle crashed into the SUV on the passenger side.

The motorcyclist, a 37-year-old man from Greece, has life-threatening injuries and was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital. No one in the SUV was injured and the SUV driver has not yet been charged.

The area has now been reopened to traffic.
