NFL analyst believes Bill Belichick would look like a 'clown' coaching this team

Maybe Bill Belichick and the Cowboys wouldn't be a match made in heaven, as some claim.

Dallas is continually mentioned as a potential landing spot for Belichick, who reportedly wants to return to coaching next season. Mike McCarthy's spot appears to be hot, and Jerry Jones could potentially see Belichick as an ideal replacement. Jones and Belichick have been around for a long time, and the latter probably appreciates Big D's rich history and standards.

However, Andrew Hawkins believes Belichick should avoid the Cowboys. The former NFL wide receiver, who shared a cup of coffee with the New England Patriots in 2017, can't imagine Jones and Belichick's styles meshing well together.

“If you put a king in the circus, the circus doesn’t look like a palace. The king looks like a clown,” Hawkins said on ESPN’s “Get Up” on Wednesday. “The culture in Dallas is not conducive to getting the best out of Bill Belichick or this organization. He (Jones) wants to run the show. He wants to be the one who selects the players. He wants to go to the media and say whatever he wants because it's his team and none of it works for Bill Belichick. When he (Belichick) ran the organization — from top to bottom — no one talked.”

Luckily for Belichick, he could have plenty of options this offseason. The Cowboys are far from the only team that has underperformed so far this season, and these clubs could find immediate success for Belichick if they seek a coaching change.

A lot can happen in the next three months. But given current developments, Belichick will have a robust market and won't have to settle for a suboptimal situation.
