The Giants' first-round pick Malik Nabers was taken to the locker room after suffering an injury

The New York Giants struck gold when they selected wide receiver Malik Nabers in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Through four games, LSU's No. 6 draft pick has done nothing but excite and impress.

Unfortunately, Nabers was injured on a botched fourth-down play in the fourth quarter. The Amazon broadcast announced that Nabers was diagnosed with a concussion.

Nabers was first taken to the blue medical tent for an examination. Then he was taken to the team's locker room late in the fourth quarter.

The play that took him out was a fourth-and-six play. He tried to toe-tap a pass on the sideline, but unfortunately lost possession of the ball and fell hard on his head.

The rookie wide receiver showed off all of his skills on Thursday night as the Giants took on their division rival, the Dallas Cowboys. His big play started early when Nabers shook Dallas cornerback Andrew Booth so badly that he literally fell to the ground before the young receiver gained 39 yards and set up the Giants' first scoring drive.

However, the big games were otherwise difficult to achieve. Dallas' defense focused on keeping Nabers from breaking through, and former first-team All-Pro Trevon Diggs had plenty of chances to cover for him.

Despite all the attention, Nabers continued to get into the game and was the workhorse of New York's passing offense. He was targeted 14 times in the game by Daniel Jones and the rookie caught 12 balls for 115 yards.

In four games, Nabers has put up numbers that you would expect from the best receivers in the game today – not a shining rookie. He caught 35 passes on 51 targets (my goodness, that target percentage!) for 386 yards and three touchdowns. And he does all of this by playing with a subpar quarterback in an offense that every other team knows will pass the ball to him.

Entering the fourth week of the NFL season, Nabers ranked fifth in the NFL in receiving yards. Given his dominant performance against the Cowboys, it wouldn't be a surprise to see him ranked even higher after this week's games are completed.

Statistically speaking, Nabers is already one of the five best NFL receivers. And he will only get better. Nabers, a rookie, lines up for Brian Daboll everywhere on the field and plays all three positions in every single game.

He's the ultimate matchup nightmare, and it's not hard to see that he's a true alpha and will soon be considered one of the very best players in a league full of shining stars. Hopefully his injury isn't serious and he'll be on the field for Week 5.
