ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) – An Asheville drug dealer who was on supervised release for a firearm possession conviction has been sentenced to more than 12 years in prison.

Douglas Aaron Holcomb, 48, was sentenced Thursday to 151 months in prison followed by supervised release for methamphetamine trafficking.

The sentence ends with a further 24 months in prison. Holcomb was sentenced on May 30, 2024 for violating his federal supervised release.

In June 2023, Holcomb was released under federal supervision after serving a prison sentence for a federal firearms offense.

On Tuesday, June 27, 2023, law enforcement in Henderson County observed Holcomb driving a vehicle with an expired license plate and conducted a traffic stop.

During the stop, a police officer was alerted to the presence of drugs.

Police searched Holcomb's vehicle and found a black backpack. Inside was a pistol holster that could be used to convert a semi-automatic rifle to work with a stock like a rifle, as well as a box containing 28 rounds of .45 caliber ammunition.

Officers found a plastic container and a black zip-top bag attached to the vehicle. Inside the plastic container were over 100 grams of methamphetamine and a 1911 .45 caliber pistol magazine containing eight rounds of .45 caliber ammunition. The black pistol contained a Sig Sauer Model 1911 .45 caliber pistol loaded with one .45 caliber cartridge in the chamber and a magazine containing seven rounds of .45 caliber ammunition.

In total, officers seized 51 rounds of .45 caliber ammunition from Holcomb.

On February 26, 2024, Holcomb pleaded guilty to intent to distribute methamphetamine.
