Family and friends remember elderly woman killed in opposite direction crash

Family and friends are mourning the loss of an elderly Augusta woman who tragically died in a wrong-way accident on Deans Bridge Road.

Dorothy Morrow, 80, was on her way to church with her 8-year-old great-grandson Jeremiah Harris on Wednesday evening when another car crossed into her lane and hit her. According to her great-niece Ange' L. Smith, Morrow was pronounced dead at the scene, while Jeremiah suffered a broken pinky finger.

The driver of the other vehicle and several passengers were taken to a local hospital where they were reportedly in critical condition.

Morrow's family members shared heartfelt memories of her. Michelle Hudson, who had known her since she was a child, said: “At 80 she was still a hairdresser. She also used to be a model. She was a very nice woman and taught me so much about hair! We will miss her very much.”

A family friend described Morrow as a church-loving woman who enjoyed fishing and noted that it was fitting that she was on her way to church at the time of the accident.

Smith emphasized that her great aunt will never be forgotten. “She is loved,” Smith said. “Dorothy was born and raised in Clearwater, Florida. She leaves behind nine siblings, three children, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild who was with her.”

Dorothy Morrow's niece Tata Parker expressed her sadness at the loss of her beloved aunt, who just celebrated her 80th birthday in August. Parker described Morrow as a caring, beautiful and successful hairdresser and shared how much she admired her and how deeply this loss had affected her.

Morrow, known for her love of dancing, fishing and traveling, left lasting memories of Parker spending each summer with her in Augusta. Parker stressed how much she will be missed and how heartbroken she is over this tragedy.

Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances of the accident.
