MOORLAND – A heavy police presence was seen in Moorland midday Thursday following a domestic incident involving a firearm.

According to Webster County Sheriff Luke Fleener, Kaleb K. Meyer contacted the Webster County Sheriff's Office to report that he was involved in a domestic incident with Cheyanne E. Guthrie at 618 Front St. Meyer stated that during the incident a firearm was displayed and fired and he was struck by a bullet, the sheriff said.

Meyer left the scene and drove to a relative's home, where he was later taken to a Mason City hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Webster County officers and criminal investigators responded to the Moorland residence. Fleener said Guthrie is currently working with investigators to determine what happened during the domestic dispute.

The investigation is ongoing and investigators are still gathering evidence to determine whether criminal charges should be filed.

Fleener says there is no threat to the community and this is an isolated incident.

The Webster County Sheriff's Office is being assisted in the investigation by the Webster County Prosecutor's Office.
