Friday accident claims 2 lives, identities released |

Manitowoc County Sheriff Dan Hartwig announced the identities of the victims of a fatal accident that occurred early Friday morning, September 20th.

In the press release issued on Monday, September 23, Hartwig stated that the 72-year-old, who drives a 2018 Ford Focus, was identified as Kiel resident Kenneth Puetz. The 18-year-old who was driving a 2004 Volkswagen Jetta and died as a result of the accident has been identified as Anthony Mahloch.

According to the initial statement released Friday by Sheriff Dan Hartwig, Manitowoc County Sheriff's Department officers and emergency responders were dispatched at 4:54 a.m. to CTH X and Louis Corners Road in Schleswig Township for a two-vehicle crash to draw attention – in the event of a collision.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Mahloch, who was traveling eastbound on CTH X, collided with Puetz, who was traveling westbound.

According to the initial report, Puetz was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hartwig expressed his deepest condolences on behalf of the sheriff's office to those affected by the incident.

The accident remains under investigation and no further information is being released at this time.
