More details on the verdict for one of young Dolph's suspected murderers

On Thursday (September 26), the court found Justin Johnson guilty of first-degree murder and conspiracy in the murder of Young Dolph. Judge Jennifer Mitchell also sentenced him as a felon for possession of a handgun, according to TMZ.

Justin is one of the two men responsible for the murder of Dolph outside a local bakery in Memphis, Tennessee in November 2021.

VIBE revealed that Justin Johnson and Cornelius Smith admitted to shooting at Makeda's Homemade Butter Cookies in 2021. Smith testified that they carried out a $100,000 hit on Young Dolph at the request of Yo Gotti's brother, Anthony “Big Jook” Mims. Mims was later killed in a shooting in January.

Earlier this week, Cornelius Smith Jr. testified and further implicated Big Jook in Young Dolph's murder, TSR previously reported.

He revealed that he and Justin Johnson FaceTimed Jook after the murder to confirm that it had taken place. Smith stated that he never met Dolph, but claimed that during the call Jook promised to “stand up” with them. He also mentioned that he would make $40,000 from the hit song.

The rapper's long-time partner and sister reacts to the guilty verdict

Shortly after Justin Johnson received his sentence, Dolph's fiancée, Mia Jaye, shared her reaction. She released a statement on Instagram thanking the public for supporting her and her family through this difficult process.

“Today's verdict brings relief and restores my faith in the justice system.” On behalf of my children, my family and I, I would like to thank law enforcement, the prosecutor's office and everyone involved for their careful work in presenting the facts leading to this led to conviction. We are also grateful to the public for standing with us and advocating for accountability throughout this process,” Mia’s statement read.

Additionally, Miya expressed that the last three years have been incredibly challenging due to the loss of Dolph and everything surrounding the trial.

However, his tragic murder inspired her to remain a strong advocate for justice, not just for him, but for all black men.

“This is just the beginning of our journey toward full justice for Adolph, and we will patiently support the development of this process.” Mia concluded.

Miya Jaye wasn't the only one to react to the guilty verdict; Dolph's sister Carlisa Brown also expressed her thoughts.

In a clip obtained by TSR, Brown urged everyone to remember her brother, not his murderers.

“We ask you to remember the man who enjoyed being a father and spending time with his family. We ask you to remember the man who enjoyed giving opportunities to those who were often overlooked and excluded. We ask you to remember the man who enjoyed giving back to others and being an inspiration to those who came from less than ideal backgrounds,” Carlisa said as tears streamed down her face.
