5 dead in SUV-semi-truck-ATV crash on US 6 near Price

PRICE — A multi-vehicle crash left five people dead Thursday afternoon north of Price.

A silver SUV was stopped on Spring Glen Road and was preparing to head east on US 6. The vehicle attempted to move into a designated acceleration lane, but overshot the target and entered the next lane, which was occupied by a semi-truck driving “double lane.”

The truck attempted to avoid the car, lost control and “veered left into westbound traffic,” UHP said. The truck crashed into a westbound Nissan, sending it off the road and into a rocky embankment. An ATV traveling on the westbound lane was also struck in the accident.

The four occupants of the Nissan and the ATV driver were killed in the accident.

According to the Utah Department of Public Safety, the accident caused major traffic delays along US 6.
