Three people have died in an overnight crash at Mount Hope and Cochran in Eaton County

EATON COUNTY, Mich. (WILX) – A fatal crash between a pickup truck and a tractor-trailer caused an intersection in Eaton County to be closed overnight Thursday into Friday.

The Eaton County Sheriff's Office said a semi-truck collided with a pickup truck at the intersection of Cochran Road and Mount Hope Highway on the border of Oneida and Roxand townships around 8 p.m. Thursday. According to authorities, an initial investigation revealed that the van appeared to have failed to stop at the stop sign while traveling west on Mount Hope when the tractor-trailer, which was traveling north on Cochran, collided with the van.

Three of the four people in the van, including the driver, died at the scene of the accident. The fourth passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

According to police, the driver of the semi-truck also suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The intersection was closed at 8 p.m. Thursday and has since reopened at 3 a.m. Friday.
