Mother and daughter killed after murder-suicide in Mississippi hospital parking lot – Magnolia State Live

A mother and her daughter have died in a tragic murder-suicide in the parking lot of a Mississippi hospital, according to police.

According to Picayune police, the incident occurred around 2:53 p.m. Thursday in the parking lot of Highland Community Hospital near the emergency room.

Officials say 61-year-old Helena Malone shot and killed her mother, 79-year-old Helen Plaisance, while the two were sitting in a car.

After the shooting, Malone called police before turning the gun on herself.

Emergency room staff brought both women inside, but despite their best efforts, they were determined to have died from their injuries.

Police confirmed all shots were fired inside the vehicle and no one else was injured. The weapon used in the shooting was recovered during the investigation.
