Trial date set for mother accused of running over her daughter at Cedar Glen Apartments

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) – A trial date has now been set for the mother accused of running over her 8-year-old daughter at the Cedar Glen Apartments in South Bend late last month.

27-year-old Jasmine White faces two counts of neglect of a dependent. She previously pleaded not guilty to these charges.

Back on August 29, witnesses told investigators that the girl and her siblings were running next to White's car as part of a game.

The video allegedly shows White speeding away while the 8-year-old held onto the passenger door handle.

Charging documents say the girl's foot became trapped under the rear tire of White's car while she was driving, dragging her to the ground and causing serious head injuries, including skull fractures and the loss of five teeth.

White's jury trial is expected to begin Jan. 6, according to MyCase. She is scheduled to return to court on December 6 for a preliminary hearing.
