Artem Chigvintsev breaks his silence on his arrest

Artem Chigvintsev is “grateful” for prosecutors’ decision not to press criminal charges against him following his arrest on suspicion of domestic violence last month.

The former professional dancer on ABC's “Dancing with the Stars” broke his silence on the incident in a statement to E! News and People magazine on Wednesday.

“I am incredibly relieved and grateful that the domestic violence charges against me have been dropped. That was an extremely difficult time for me. I am grateful that the truth has prevailed,” he told the media. Chigvintsev added that his “focus has always been and always will be” his four-year-old son Matteo, whom he shares with his wife Nikki Garcia.

Earlier this month, Garcia filed for divorce from Chigvintsev almost two weeks after his arrest.

“(Matteo) is my world and being his father is the greatest blessing in my life,” Chigvintsev continued in his statement. “My main concern the whole time was him. I am committed to continuing to give him the love, support and care he needs as we move forward. I hope that securing an equal custody agreement will move us forward.”
