Man accused of child molestation is convicted | Local

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) – A man accused of molesting a girl multiple times between August 2020 and September 2022 has been sentenced.

The victim told Fort Wayne police that 45-year-old Aaron Gump sexually assaulted her.

According to the victim, when she confronted Gump, she “got on her knees” and begged for forgiveness.

When contacted by phone, Gump said he told police he would think about talking to them.

Documents show that three days later, Gump left a voicemail in which he said he had spoken to an attorney and was advised not to appear for an interview.

He has been preliminary charged with two counts of child abuse, Level 1 and 4 felonies, two counts of sexual misconduct, Level 4 and 5 felonies, and one additional felony.

On August 2, Gump signed a guilty plea agreement.

Under the agreement, Gump would plead guilty to child abuse, a Level 4 felony, and his remaining charges would be dismissed.

Gump was sentenced Friday to 12 years in prison, followed by two years of active adult probation.
