Charges have been filed against the man accused in the Devils Lake shooting incident

DEVILS LAKE, N.D. (Valley News Live) – Charges have been filed against a man accused in a shooting incident that led to the closure of schools in Devils Lake on Monday.

Joseph Gleason made his first court appearance in Ramsey County on Thursday. No bail has been set. He is charged with burglary, terrorism and reckless endangerment.

Authorities surrounded his home overnight around 1:30 a.m. Monday. They said Gleason was inside and refused to come out. No one else was home and authorities eventually left the house.

According to newly filed court documents, officers were led to the home after receiving a call from Gleason's mother.

Documents show Gleason broke into his ex-wife's home by kicking in the doggie door.

He woke her up and demanded ammunition and a shotgun.

According to court documents, his ex-wife obeyed out of fear. Gleason asked if she wanted to watch him kill himself before taking off.

Officers returned to Gleason's home later that afternoon. He was arrested around 1:30 p.m. According to police, no shots were fired during the day and no one was injured.

They add that a weapon was found in the house.
