Man arrested in connection with bomb threat at Racine courthouse

The Racine County Sheriff's Office announced Friday that it had made an arrest in connection with a bomb threat that led to the closure of the county courthouse this week. Officers arrested 29-year-old Devone Kessler of Racine, according to a news release. Officials said Monday's threat was linked to a phone number in Alberta, Canada; But investigators later linked it to a company that provides an app that sells phone numbers that are said to be difficult to trace. The press release said they linked the purchased number to Kessler. On Thursday, officers executed a search warrant at his Racine home and his workplace and arrested him. Officials said investigators were “able to obtain a full confession from Kessler” after the arrest, but the release did not provide a possible motive. Following the threat, the courthouse remained closed for the rest of the day on Monday.
