Topeka woman arrested for meth possession after traffic stop

JACKSON COUNTY, Kan. (WIBW) – A Topeka woman was arrested for meth possession after a traffic stop on Thursday, September 26th.

Sheriff Tim Morse reported that just before 8 a.m., a Jackson County sheriff's deputy conducted a traffic stop on a 2003 Acura LT at US Hwy 75 and 214th Road near Holton for several suspected traffic violations.

Upon contact with the occupants of the vehicle, the driver was identified as Paula Louise Michael, 61, of Topeka, Kansas.

During the traffic stop, a Jackson County Sheriff's Office detective became aware of the odor of illegal narcotics in the vehicle.

A search was conducted to identify a possible culprit of the vehicle and illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia were discovered.

Michael was arrested and booked into the Jackson County Jail.

Michael was arrested on the following charges:

  • for possession of methamphetamine
  • a hallucinogenic drug
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
