Player ratings: AC Milan 3-0 Lecce

AC Milan was able to build on its win against Inter and beat Lecce at the San Siro on Friday evening. Theo Hernandez scored a goal and an assist. Below are the player ratings for the Rossoneri.

If you haven't already, be sure to check it out how we decide on player ratings. From the scale to the impact on the rating, we have put everything together there.

Starting XI

Maignan (6.5): The Frenchman didn't have much to do on the night, or at least no major tests were placed on him, but he made a few good stops to keep Milan's clean slate intact. A very good save in the second half, even if it ended up being offside.

Emerson Royal (5.5): That's a tough question because you could say the Brazilian did enough to get a pass. There were some good and bad moments in attack, but before the goals came, Lecce – and especially Rebic – played a lot on the left and got past him too easily.

Gabbia (6): His positioning was very good throughout the game and he was calm in his actions, which is essential for a central defender. A few nice long balls, but also some passes he could have executed better.

Tomori (6): The Englishman lost a few duels but also managed to win many, so overall it was a decent performance. He was very lucky when Lecce hit the post, but he also helped prevent a few other chances, so enough to get a pass here.

Hernandez (7.5 – MOTM): Morata's assist was very nice, even if the attacker did most of the work, and the goal to make it 2-0 was fantastic. In a similar position he had the chance to score a fourth goal before half-time, but this time he missed the target. In addition to a goal and an assist, he was very solid defensively and continued to pose a threat for Lecce in attack.

Pulisic (6.5): Milan attacked more on the left in both halves of the game, but were in the right place at the right time to score. To be fair, he made some good runs throughout the game, but at the end of the day he wasn't as involved tonight.

Fofana (6.5): The passing was better than in the derby, probably because he had more time on the ball, and he helped set the pace of the game well. He also spoke a lot with Maignan and his defensive teammates during the game and helped a lot in this phase too.

Reijnders (6): When he got the ball, he kept the game going with some tempo, but given Lecce's compactness, his strengths weren't showcased as well today. Still a good performance and hopefully he will find more space against the attacking Leverkusen team.

Leao (7): It was initially a stroke of luck for the captain of the evening, but then he got going. He first won the free kick that led to Morata's goal and then assisted Theo's shot with a perfectly weighted pass. He had some good moments in the second half and came close to scoring in the final minutes after a great run. Almost a 6.5 because of the ups and downs here, but at least he helped with the goals.

Morata (7): It was a fantastic header to open the scoring (thanks to the shaved head?) and he then helped win the ball back for Pulisic's goal. Fonseca replaced him after 55 minutes, but it looked like a precautionary move more than anything else. Certainly an important leader of the team.

Abraham (5.5): Just like we saw in the derby, he worked hard, but this time he had a little more trouble controlling the ball and combining with his teammates. He also missed two very good chances shortly before Pulisic's goal. He needs to be more clinical, and 57% success when all the other starters had 80% or better (most 90% or better) isn't great.

Substitute

Loftus Cheek (6): Came into the game and used his size to Milan's advantage, winning duels in the first phase of defense and even helping out when Lecce counterattacked.

Musah (6): Decent distribution of the ball, apart from a few bad passes, and his work rate helped keep the game going.

Chukwueze (5.5): It will be very interesting to see more of him this season as we got a glimpse of what he can do with the ball at his feet. However, unlike the other substitutes, he had no real impact on the game tonight.

Bartesaghi (N/A): The tackle may have been a bit reckless, but he got the ball and it certainly wasn't a red card. His studs were adorning the Lecce player's boot and last time we checked, that's not grounds for a red card.

Jovic (N/A): The Serb had a few nice shots, but we didn't see enough to rate him tonight.
