7UP to add Shirley Temple flavor for the holidays

A limited edition Shirley Temple 7UP flavor is in the works for the holidays.

Food and snack insider Snackolater posted on Instagram on Tuesday that the lemon, lime, pomegranate and cherry-flavored soda could be available in cans and 2-liter bottles in late October.

On Thursday, Shirley Temple flavors in regular and sugar-free varieties could be found on Walmart and Target's websites, but were listed as sold out or unavailable for purchase.

The flavor is not listed on the 7UP website as of Thursday.

On Thursday, recent comments on 7Up's official Instagram account included questions about the new flavor such as “Will Shirley Temple be available in diet/zero sugar form?” Please say yes” and “We need Shirley Temple Neow in the can.”

Shirley Temple was one of Hollywood's most famous child stars.

History of the Shirley Temple

People know Shirley Temple for her beloved, innocent roles in films. But she is also known for the non-alcoholic drink named after her.

It is said that in the late 1930s, a bartender at Chasen's in Beverly Hills invented the cocktail. The bartender prepared the drink for the young actress at her peak.
