Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton have adopted a new kitten named Corn

Gwen Stefani announced on social media that she and her husband Blake Shelton had adopted a stray kitten that wandered onto their property in Oklahoma and given him a name befitting a farm boy. Read all about him below.

“This is Corn Shelton 🥰,” The voicewrote on Instagram, uploading a montage of clips of the cat. She continued: “The day he came home to us he was barely alive and so sick, but with lots of love and care he became a healthy kitten. We are so grateful that he is part of our family 🤍”

The video shows Stefani carefully wrapping the sick kitten in a blanket, and then a clip from later in which a happy and healthy Corn is “doing incredibly well and getting fat,” as Shelton says.

In the comments to the video, many people mentioned the “cat distribution system,” a saying that refers to the fact that many people get cats not because they adopt them, but because the cats simply appear in their lives. If the system gives you a cat, keep it.

Blake and Gwen love farm life in Oklahoma

Little Corn certainly has fun chasing mice and playing in the hay on the farm, where his humans spend much of their time.

After Shelton announced he was retiring from the singing competition series where he met his wife, Stefani revealed this Extra that the choice was due in part to his love for their Oklahoma estate. “I think he's gotten to the point where he wants time on his ranch, time to just do the other things he likes to do.”

And she loves it too. “I didn’t expect any of that with Blake. The opportunity to escape to Oklahoma, a place I would never have gone, and when I met Blake, that was the moment I felt [at] home. Oh, The “This is where I was supposed to be, with this guy,” she reflected during an interview in September 2023. “Going to Oklahoma was like experiencing a whole world that I knew nothing about.”
