Arrest made after man shot in Northeast Portland

The suspect, Estabon Ramirez, was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on a warrant for second-degree murder.

PORTLAND, Ore. – A suspect has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in Portland's Lloyd District.

On September 10th at approximately 5:30 p.m., Portland police responded to reports of a shooting near Northeast Grand and Northeast 6th Avenue. When officers arrived, they found a 44-year-old man named Anthony J. Garland dead. The medical examiner later determined Garland's cause of death to be homicide by gunshot.

Investigators gathered information that led to a suspect, 31-year-old Estabon Ramirez. An arrest warrant was then issued to the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office.

At 9:30 a.m. Friday, a Portland police officer recognized Ramirez near Northwest 14th Avenue and Northwest Couch Street.

The officer requested assistance and several officers arrested Ramirez, who was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on a warrant for second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon, as well as four other unrelated warrants.

Garland's family was notified of the arrest.
