Shots were fired during a football game at Wisconsin Lutheran High School

MILWAUKEE – A football game at Wisconsin Lutheran High School in Milwaukee was called off after shots were fired Friday.

According to the director of Wisconsin Lutheran in Milwaukee, these shots were fired by an off-duty security guard who accidentally discharged his weapon during the football game.

The incident caused an “understandable panic”.

According to a news release from the school president to TMJ4, the security guard, who is not affiliated with Wisconsin Lutheran High School, was injured and required medical attention; However, no further injuries were reported.

“We take pride in maintaining a safe environment for our students and everyone involved in our football program,” said Rev. Dr. Wisconsin Lutheran High School President Kenneth Fisher said in a news release Friday. “Following this incident, we will review safety protocols.”

The game ended early and everyone was sent home.
