Chrissy Teigen's red carpet look sparks backlash from critics

Model and entrepreneur Chrissy Teigen has a new focus besides looking glamorous on red carpets with her husband: pet food.

Teigen took the stage at Adweek's Brandweek event in Phoenix, Arizona, to promote her latest venture, Kismet, a pet food and merchandise line that she launched with her husband, John Legend, in May.

After showcasing her business acumen in panel discussions and discussing marketing strategies, she posted highlights of the event to her 42.2 million social media followers on Instagram.

In her post, the mother of two can be seen in a gray dress with a uniquely designed V-neck. Teigen shared her excitement for the event with the caption: “@adweek's Brand Week is honestly one of my favorite events of the year!” It was so much fun talking about everything, @kismet! Phoenix, you are incredibly hot, but also very cool.”

She added humorously: “We had such a great meal at North Italia too, so all around a 10/10 experience!”

Teigen also couldn't resist a quick plug for her dog food, telling her followers, “Get the shrimp scampi and dip your bread and get the truffle garlic bread that you can use as a ladle too, oh.” Baby.”

Fans enjoyed it figuratively and her comments section was full of praise for her brand.

One person gushed: “Our dog loves @kismet! The dog food is high quality and the treats are so motivating! I love the planned delivery options.”

Apparently the brand and Teigen's bubbly personality resonated with her audience, with one person who attended her panel commenting, “You stole the show, Moo Deng style.”

While their professional skills were on full display, some couldn't help but focus on their looks rather than their business achievements.

Some critics even speculated that she recently had a bad plastic surgery gone wrong.

“In what universe is all this plastic surgery considered attractive?” one person asked.

Another harshly added: “My God…your doctor should be stripped of his license for smearing so much crap on your cheeks.”…It looks ridiculous. I don’t know if anyone told you this or not, but it’s a fact.”

Despite the negativity, not all feedback was critical.

A third said: “Do you have lipo on your stomach? You look great!! Flat stomach!! Great figure!!”

While a fourth added: “Umm you look cute from all angles. “Tell John I'm sorry.”

This isn't the first time she's come under scrutiny for her looks.

In June 2024, People magazine reported on how she addressed the rumors surrounding her plastic surgery on Instagram.

After someone claiming to be a medical professional accused her of having fillers, she shot back in a series of videos, denying the claims.

“Would you trust a doctor who can’t tell the difference between fillers and weight gain? “I personally wouldn't do it,” she said in a clip, before continuing, “And besides, my doctor would never hang out on Instagram dissecting people's faces…he's too busy working.”

In a second video, Legend's wife pointed out the damage this type of criticism causes.

“Such kind of criticism only serves to make the person you are talking about not want to smile and show their natural joy because they think that people will make fun of them because of their bone structure, maybe their teeth, their lips, etc. how they look when they smile,” she said. “What is this really supposed to do other than actually steal someone else’s joy?” Literally.”

The 38-year-old has been open about her previous cosmetic enhancements and went to X in 2020 to reveal she had had a boob job, but it wasn't her first.

In September 2021, Teigen openly revealed that she had undergone cheek fat removal surgery, a procedure aimed at improving the contours of her jawline, reducing fullness in her face, and thinning her cheeks. This trend is booming in Hollywood, although according to Harper's Baazar, she is the only celebrity who has admitted to having it.

Just a few months later, she shared details of another cosmetic enhancement – an eyebrow transplant. The operation involved removing hair from the back of her head and using it to create fuller, better-shaped brows.

On the January 30 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Teigen revealed more about her cosmetics history during the appearance. She accidentally confirmed that she had undergone three different breast augmentations while playing a game where she was supposed to lie about herself.

“I had them take them, put them in and take them out. I don't like her,” she said, while also explaining that she didn't really know that she shouldn't tell the truth in the game.

But this wasn't new news. She previously spoke about getting breast implants at the age of 20 to do a magazine spread, telling Glamor UK in a 2020 interview that it was “more of a swimsuit thing.” .

She added: “I thought if I pose on my back I want them to be perky! But then you have babies and they fill up with milk and deflate, and now I’m screwed.”

Despite the noise, Teigen seems unfazed, balancing her role as mother of four, cookbook author, business owner and wife to a superstar.

Whether it's her upbringing or the way she looks and dresses, she knows that people always have something to say.
