Members of the Random Lake community compete to raise money for bus crash victims

RANDOM LAKE – Hundreds of people gathered in downtown Random Lake Friday night for the 7th annual…Th Annual Color Run hosted by FOR Kids and Random Lake Entertainment District.

100% of the proceeds will go to all students involved in the bus accident on September 16th.

“Some people need to be helped when they get hurt,” said Mariana Rivera, a fifth-grader at Random Lake.

Mariana Rivera is a fifth grader at Random Lake. She is happy to be able to help the victims of the bus accident.

Rivera was one of many students who took part in the fun run. She said she loves seeing the city come together to support each other.

“I love this city,” Rivera said.

Rivera is happy to have her classmates back at school. Many parents admire the strength of the students who were injured in the accident.

“Children are resilient. Children take care of each other. These children know that they are there for them and are happy to do this for the other children,” said organizer Heidi Harry.

Heidi Harry reached out to us about participating in FOR Kids' 7th Annual Color Run. The event benefits the students injured in the bus accident.

Harry said this was the largest turnout FOR Kids had seen in the event's seven-year history.

“It's just fun to see people helping other people who are having a hard time in their lives,” said Vivienne Dutter, a student at Random Lake.

Each student involved in the accident will receive a gift basket to comfort them during this difficult time.
