Illinois State Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting in an incident that began in Plano and ended in Aurora.

Plano police responded to a shot fired in the 3800 block of Pratt Street at 6:39 p.m., according to a police release. Police found a man dead inside a home with multiple gunshot wounds, according to the news release.

Rescue attempts were made, but the victim succumbed to his injuries, the statement said.

According to a press release from the Kendall County Sheriff's Office, law enforcement has located a car in the area that is believed to be related to the incident. After a chase that ended in the area of ​​Route 34 and Eola Road in Aurora, officers from multiple law enforcement agencies encountered an armed subject, according to the news release.

“Deputies and officers faced with a deadly threat attacked the individual to protect the public and themselves,” the release said. “No police officers were injured.”

The condition of the person who was shot is currently unknown.
