A paralegal with the Queens district attorney is accused of plotting to blow up a migrant shelter because of the noise

ELMHURST, Queens (WABC) — A paralegal with the Queens District Attorney's Office is facing prison time after being charged with conspiring to blow up a refugee shelter.

According to police, Derek Klever, 27, threatened to blow up the Kamway Lodge in Elmhurst because of the noise. One complaint said he was tired of migrants “having a party at 8 a.m.”

A search of Klever's home nearby revealed evidence that he was building a device combining fireworks and nails.

Klever was charged with terroristic threats and criminal possession of a weapon and found not guilty.

He was fired.
